If I have some "sensitive information" regarding US military actions in Middle East and Central Asia, things that I believe are immoral such as the My Lai massacre. If I release them, would the US Government jail me or try to extradite me as a "high-tech terrorist" like Assange? The Government does not like being exposed. So I would think very carefully about that bud. Give it to wiki leaks they may be dumb enough to release it

Answer by Rob Nelson
If you are an American national then I doubt it but they would probably charge you with releasing classified documents and jail you for a very long time.

of course they would. regardless of how you feel there will always be massacres and other incidences during war. It has happened in every war and will continue to happen until we change humanity at the global level. You can't ask people to go out and kill and injure other sin war and expect everyone and every unit to be well adjusted. It is easy to say do';t do this if you have never experienced it before. Plus not all things that appear bad at first glance are as bad as they seem. I am not justifying all acts, but in vietnam anti war protesters showed GI's killing babies and they forgot to mention that often the enmy would put grenades/bombs in the dipers to kill the GI's. Any info u disclo se you better be sure that you have all the facts.

You should be quiet about this information that you supposedly have, and dispose of it before your life is destroyed by having such material in the first place. There is a thing called loyalty and Operational Security, please do the right thing.

Yes. But you will be punished for exercising your rights. This country no longer has free speech or free press.

If you have the information legally and do not have any restrictions on releasing it then it is not illegal. If however the information is classified and/or you only have access to it due to a nondisclosure situation, you do not have the right to release it. If you actually had information on a situation like the My Lai massacre, the U.S. military actually has proper channels to report such things through, that will get them prosecuted. You are given information on who to contact as part of your clearance training actually. Bad stuff can happen in any military conflict, and stuff like My Lai and such violates the UCMJ in a major way... so it needs to be reported so it can be prosecuted. If you did release information like this to the press instead of proper channels, yes you could end up in jail... as you would have committed a crime. And the U.S. has not tried to extradite Assange, heck they have not even charged him with anything at this point. The only people trying to extradite him is Sweden, and that is on investigations on sex crimes committed against 2 women. (Which per the leaked documents appear to be actual employees of Wikileaks. And the only things that they wanted from him originally was him to get an STD test to make sure they were safe after what he did... they were trying to put it in their past, but he is the one who kept pushing it off till they had to file charges to try and get the tests done... which still has not happened.) Note Manning did not just release a few records that he thought showed the U.S. was committing immoral actions... he did a massive info dump of classified data. He did not even know what most of the documents he gave up were.

Geez troll, how many accounts do you have now?

How did you gain this information? Not that I believe it exists! If you did not sign a non-disclosure agreement then you can not be held liable for releasing any information. Of course you are full of it and don't have any sensitive information about something that never happened.
