Question by mani: hai friends. please let me know what is "system volume information"? hai friends. please let me know what is "system volume information" in c and d drives. In this system volume information , AVAST found a virus - win trojan-gen{other}- . I gave delete all in the message box by avast. but, if i again scan the drives, then avast again shows the same virus in the same place again and again. i scanned for 4 times. but again it shows the same virus in the same place. pla let me know what can i do now. thank is advance... by mani Best answer for hai friends. please let me know what is "system volume information"?:

Thats where windows stores its System Restore information. Avast found a virus there because when that restore point was created, your system had a virus on it. Let Avast clean it or write down the file name and go delete it by hand.

i had this, you ned to turn off the system restore points and then scan with avast and delete it, this is how i got rid of it, once you have got it out then turn system restore back on again

system volume information is a part of system restore; trojan love to hide in system restore because they cannot be remove from there. What to do. 1. update AV & antispyware programs. 2. turn off system restore. 3. re boot in safe mode & do a full set of scans. 4 re boot if clean turn on system restore.
