U.S. Congressman Paul Ryan, the Republican nominee for vice president, did not give specifics of his tax plan on Sunday.
Mitt Romney doesnât need a game-changing performance in the first debate, despite previous âmissteps,â his 47% comments among them, the Republicanâs running mate said.
With polls showing President Obama enjoying a slight edge nationally and leads in most swing states, Rep. Paul Ryan was asked on âFox News Sundayâ whether, as many pundits say, Romney needs a big win, not a well-fought draw, in Denver, Colo., Wednesday.
âFirst of all, the polls are close. This is going to be a close race,â Ryan said, confident and promising victory.
âBut you are trailing,â host Chris Wallace interrupted.
âI donât think one event is going to make or break this campaign,â Ryan said, arguing that the President will sink in the debates under the weight of his first term and Romneyâs promise of improved economic recovery and greater individual opportunity.
âI know what President Obama has done, I know all of these empty promises and brok en promises; I know about the ugly, stagnant economy,â he added.
Yet an Associated Press analysis published Sunday showed that if the election were held today, Obama would win at least 271 electoral votes â" one more than he needs for reelection. The news agency predicted that to defeat Obama, Romney needs to dramatically turn the tide, winning in the swing states of Florida, Colorado, Nevada, North Carolina, New Hampshire and Virginia â" plus either Ohio or Iowa.
Ryan said he believes the campaign can make up that ground now that more people are turning their attention to the race.
âPeople really focus near the end, and thatâs happening now,â the candidate said.
Ryan was candid about some of the problems that have put the GOP ticket in the hole â" notably Romneyâs recorded comments from a May fund-raiser that 47% of Americans are victims of a dependency on government.
âIt was an inarticulate way to describe what we are trying to do to create prosperity and upward mobility, and reduce dependency by getting people off welfare back to work,â he said, noting that Romney previously said he bungled the argumentâs phrasing.
âSo, yes, those â" weâve had some missteps, but at the end of the day, the choice is really clear,â he said.
âWe have these pro-growth solutions for opportunity and upward mobility and a dynamic economy. Youâve got the President promising basically four more years, like the last four years, of stagnation, of dependency.â
Wallace brought up the topic of Romneyâs recent stumbles by prefacing a report that Ryan has been referencing the missteps in private conversations with conservative commentators that are aimed at trying to reassure them the campaign is on the right track.
But some pundits have said that if Romney delivers a mediocre or poor performance during his rhetorical one-on-one with Obama Wednesday, it could lead donations to dry up and , in general, cast a pall over the campaign.
Ryan perhaps had that in mind when he seemed to lower expectations, even saying that Romney would be in uncharted territory against.
âPresident Obama is a gifted speaker,â he said. âThis is Mittâs first time on this kind of a stage.â
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, appearing on several Sunday morning news shows, didnât undersell Romney, and said he expected him to do well in the face-off.
âThis whole race is going to be turned upside down come Thursday morning,â Christie predicted on CBSâ âFace The Nation.â
Ryan got into a bit of a verbal skirmish with Wallace when he declined to give specifics of the campaignâs tax plan, saying there wasnât enough time in the TV program for such an undertaking.
Obama and the Democrats have repeatedly hammered Romney and Ryan for failing to detail how they would finance a promised 20% tax cut.
Wallace pressed Ryan to do the arithm etic, noting that President Obama says it would cost $ 5 trillion over a decade.
Ryan said that figure was off-base but refused to offer one of his own.
âI donât have time,â the Wisconsin congressman said. âIt would take me too long to go through all the math.â
He insisted the tax plan was ârevenue neutralâ because eliminating loopholes and deductions would make up for the lost tax revenue â" but he did not specify which ones are on the chopping block.
Question by Zoer: How much would it cost for a "new" engine? I've been told it would be more cost efficient to just buy a "new" engine for my '94 Toyota Camry XLE and I was wondering ballpark, how much it would cost for the labor and the engine itself. Where would I go (any place in S. Oregon would be more helpful) to get an engine? Best answer for How much would it cost for a "new" engine?:
Answer by kmankman4321

Any auto parts store can help you out with Any questions you have about purchasing an engine. I live in Hawaii but I would guess ballpark for the engine $ 1,400.- $ 1,900. Now you gotta buy the Gasket kit I think, also, $ 800. And labor $ 950.- $ 1,200.Ballpark.

Go to jasperengines.com Their engines are remanufactured. That means they don't just replace the worn stuff, they replace everything that can wear out. They're as good as brand new. The site will give you a price and a list of shops near you that can put it in. Probably around $ 3000 installed. It's a lot for that old car. If you trust someone to find you a good used engine, you'd spend less than half that much.
